First of all: I recently bought an OUYA, and it’s awesome! It’s a great, cheap, little console that’s excellent for couch-gaming with your friends (something I’ve always really enjoyed and I feel has been neglected lately by all big consoles). If you’ve got an OUYA, some great games you should certainly try are Towerfall (by Matt Thorson, indie!), Bombsquad (by Eric Froemling, indie!), Rose and Time (by Sofie Houlden, indie!), Super Crate Box (by Vlambeer, indie!) and last but not least Vault (by me!). I recently ported my first Ludum Dare game to OUYA. It’s now in full HD and playing with the controller just feels right for a game like Vault. I just submitted the first patch which contains some minor graphical updates and a few improvements to performance. This update should be live somewhere tomorrow (maybe even tonight!) if all goes well. If you don’t have an OUYA yet, what are you waiting for?
Vault (for OUYA) is also my OneGameAMonth game for July, putting me on a seven month streak and placing me in the top 100 at place 21 (as of this writing). Hurray!
In three weeks, the August 23rd-26th weekend, Ludum Dare 27 will take place and I will participate! The game I make then will also be my August entry for OneGameAMonth.
I just received an e-mail saying that the new Vault version has been approved, so it’s now live in the OUYA store! Search for it in the store or look in the SandBox to find it.
I’ll try to regularly update Vault to increase replayability and hopefully I’ll add a multiplayer mode soon (since that’s so fun on OUYA), but I’m guessing that won’t happen until after Ludum Dare 27…
